Steve Fortner was born and raised in Decatur County. He has been associated with the farming community all his life.
In 1971 Steve managed a fertilizer facility. Then in 1972 he started as a salesman selling International farm equipment. In 1977 he attended Reppert School of Auctioneering and received his Indiana State Auctioneer License, then started doing appraisals and auctioneering. Then in 1978 he started doing farm, household, and antique sales.
In 1990 he received his Real Estate license for the state of Indiana. In 2006 Steve started selling construction and ag equipment. And most recently in 2020 he received his Real Estate Broker’s license for the state of Indiana.
Steve was married in 1972 to Wanda [Bense] Fortner. He has one sister and Wanda has two sisters, and together they have several nieces and nephews. Steve is a member of Waynesburg Christian Church where he is currently serving as an elder. He enjoys all sports and spending time with nieces and nephews.
