Matt grew up in Caldwell county, MO on a family farm, raising livestock and a lot of corn, soybeans, wheat and milo. Matt began farming on his own at 14 years old. Matt's father ran a business in Hamilton, MO and Matt worked part-time for him at the store. He was raised hunting and fishing with his family. They hunted pheasants across southern IA, and whitetail deer and turkey on the family farm. This is where Matt developed a passion for growing and hunting whitetail deer and turkey.
Matt attended MWSU and began a career in law enforcement. He is also blessed with 2 sons; Logan and Dawson. The boys enjoy the outdoors and love helping at the farm. Their time spent together hunting and fishing is priceless.
In 2010 Matt switched from conventional tillage practices farming, to no-till . In 2012 he began cover cropping before and after cash crops and began to see the benefits right away and each year there after it continues to improve the soil ,time spent and R.O.I.[return on investment]. Matt has a vast amount of knowledge of all aspects of farming; including chemical applications, fertilizer applications (amounts, various types, and timing of application). Matt prefers complete soil testing to know what the soil composition is and the CEC of the soil.
Matt believes farmers are caretakers of the land and hunters are for wildlife on the land. He has introduced several new people to the outdoors and helped them to purchase their own farms for hunting and recreation. Matt looks forward to serving you with the LandProz team!
