Ryan was raised on his family’s farm near Cleveland, MN. From a young age Ryan held a strong connection to the land and a passion for forward thinking. Ryan graduated from Cleveland Public School and from there attended the University of Wisconsin-River Falls. He earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Ag Business and Agronomy. Ryan and his wife Emily live on the farm where they are raising their three young children.
After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-River Falls, Ryan spent ten years working at a cooperative across southern Minnesota. While at the cooperative, Ryan worked as an agronomist, as well as specialized in ag-retail sales and management. It was there that he built the trust of many people in the agricultural industry. Ryan learned how to uncover the value in each situation to propel everyone involved to the next level. Ryan prides himself on his ability to build strong relationships with the producers that he worked with. Today, Ryan farms full-time with his wife and kids on the farm he grew up on. They grow corn and soybeans, as well as beef for direct to consumer sales.
One of the things Ryan is most passionate about in agriculture is seeing the impact of how an effectively managed agronomic system can truly elevate an operation. Ryan leverages his experience with soil fertility, drainage and crop management to truly uncover a farm’s potential. Seeing the synergy of pulling each farm’s unique characteristics together for success, regardless of the situation, is inspiring.
In Ryan’s spare time, he enjoys spending time outdoors with his family. Checking crops with the Ranger, feeding the cattle and playing in the yard are at the top of the list. Hunting, fishing and working together with his wife on business adventures such as their retail direct to consumer beef business are all enjoyed hobbies.
