James grew up in small town southern Indiana, near Louisville, Kentucky. James attended Crawford County high school where he met his now wife, Sherri. They have been married for 24 years and have one daughter. They moved to rural Keosauqua, Iowa in 2013. When asked why they moved here away from their home of 40+ years, the simple reply was for deer hunting. James and his daughter are avid hunters and that was the sole purpose of their arrival in Iowa. James had been instilled with a love for hunting since he was young. When the idea of moving to Iowa was introduced, the whole family was ready to go.
